Hydraulic Elevator

A machine room elevator is a type of lift system where the drive equipment and motor are installed in a dedicated room located above the elevator shaft. Although widely used in the past, this design is less favored in modern architecture due to aesthetic concerns and the additional structural space it requires, which can affect overall building value.
These elevators typically need a separate machine room structure above the shaft, increasing construction complexity. Traditional machine room elevators commonly use geared (asynchronous) motor systems, but modern installations increasingly adopt gearless motors for improved efficiency, smoother operation, and reduced maintenance requirements.
